Embedding Librarianship in Learning Management (ALA TechSource Workshop)
A 90-minute workshop, Thursday, February 7, 2013, 1:30pm Central
Students conducting research need your help in finding the best resources for their projects, but all too often they bypass your library altogether. Learn how to reach students where the research starts—in the learning management system (LMS) that hosts the assignment itself. Beth E. Tumbleson and John J. Burke will share their experiences and insights from other embedded librarians in this new workshop, using a step-by-step approach to demonstrate how to:
* Start small by planning an effective pilot
* Design for sustainability by using repositories and a strategic selection of courses
* Showcase library tools such as the discovery layer, LibGuides, and screencasts
* Gain faculty support with value-added selling points
Please RSVP to Jacob Hill at firstname.lastname@example.org anytime before Thursday Feb. 7th.
Parking is available at Elmhurst College in the main lot north of the campus, just south of the UP-West train tracks, off Alexander road. The A.C. Buehler Library is south of the parking lot, facing west, near the Elmhurst College fountain. The webinar will be held in the library "fishbowl" classroom on the main floor.
