List of current LIBRAS liaisons
Description and Responsibilities
The LIBRAS Liaison is a member of a LIBRAS library staff who works to insure that all members of the library staff are aware of LIBRAS. The Liaison tries to connect staff members with staff in similar positions at other LIBRAS libraries. The Liaison encourages each staff member to subscribe to the appropriate LIBRAS listserv(s) and participate in the appropriate SIG(s). The Liaison promotes LIBRAS activities and participation to all library staff.
- Send current URL of library homepage and directory page to the LIBRAS Communications Director.
- Send to the LIBRAS Communications Director an updated URL whenever the URL for the library homepage or directory page changes.
- Send to the LIBRAS Liaison Listserv a bimonthly (i.e., every other month) report of what is happening in the liaison's library.
Examples include: staff changes; new program implementation (starting new information literacy instruction, online reference service, information commons, etc.); implementing new electronic products/services (new databases, changes to the library's webpage, etc.);
projects the library staff is working on (weeding, inventory, cataloging, etc.); building/renovation projects; campus-wide changes, projects, or reorganization that affect the library; grants
the library has received; innovations in staff/student worker training; etc.
- Disseminate announcements and news from the Liaison Listserv to the appropriate staff members
- Promote participation in LIBRAS SIGs and programs to all library staff
- Become acquainted with the LIBRAS Continuing Education opportunities for attending conferences and workshops, and promote these benefits to staff members as appropriate
- Introduce new staff members to LIBRAS, making new staff members aware of networking / mentoring opportunities with staff at other LIBRAS libraries.
